Afro Classics Register was formed in 2017 and the newly formed African Caribbean Classic and Sports Car Club (ACCSCC) was subsumed into it.
ACCSCC consisted of about 10 members and under the ACR banner we have now grown to over 300-members from across the UK.
Membership commences on the first day of the month of application and continues for a 12-month period. Renewal occurs annually on the application anniversary.
Membership cancellation occurs automatically upon failure to renew by the due date. Reactivation will require the payment of a reinstatement fee. Non-renewing members will lose access to club systems.
Membership is open to individuals of African or Caribbean heritage, regardless of their race. Our criteria focus on cultural heritage, welcoming members from all racial backgrounds who share this connection. Unlike many other UK clubs centered around protected characteristics, our organization emphasizes cultural heritage as the basis for membership.
Club membership is determined by cultural heritage, not skin colour.
As a car club, we embrace the 'protected characteristics' as defined under the Equality Act 2010.
The club will make all reasonable efforts to support charitable endeavours and community-based events.
The club participates in a variety of events, including the Classic Car Boot Sale, Radiate Windrush Festival, Lambeth Country Show, Bromley Motoring Pageant, OneLove Festival, and Classic Car Drive-in at Bicester Heritage, among others.
Classic cars are generally defined as being 25 years or older, while vehicles over 40 years old are often considered Vehicles of Historic Interest (VHI), qualifying them for tax and ULEZ exemptions. However, event organizers, rather than clubs, often set the specific criteria for which cars they wish to display at their events.
The annual membership fee for the club is £50. Donations of any kind are welcome and contribute to the club's activities and development, such as event identification and coordination, and website article creation. Members are encouraged to participate in the club's operation.
Although damage at events is uncommon, club members and supporters should always be vigilant during displays. Ultimately, all vehicles are exhibited at the owner's own risk.
Given members' busy schedules, we encourage attendance at a minimum of four events annually, in addition to the Annual Bromley Pageant of Motoring held each June.
We've launched a foundational version and are committed to continuously improving and expanding it. You'll see new features and content appear regularly as we work to enhance your experience. We value your patience and support.
